The club regret to announce the passing of Alan Watts, Life President of Charlton Athletic Women’s FC. Alan died last weekend at his home in Catford, South London, where he lived alone. He had been unwell for some months.

Alan was granted his honorary title in September 2018 in recognition of his huge support for the women Addicks. He was almost ever-present as a supporter home and away, and made a valuable financial contribution to various types of expenditure including away travel and medical expenses.

Alan’s funeral service will be fairly short and simple, at his own request, with mourners asked to wear something red and white. It will be held on 14 January 2021 local to where he lived . The club will be represented by Stephen King and Sue Prior. COVID-19 restrictions place a limit on the number of mourners but if anybody else wishes to pay their respects in person, please make this known as soon as possible and we will advise if spaces are available.

Alan had indicated that he doesn’t want flowers sent, but anyone who would like to pay their respects is invited to make a donation in his memory to a charity of their own choice.

R.I.P Alan Watts, the most loyal fan a club could ask for.
