A late surge from Blackburn Rovers saw the visitors snatch all three points on Sunday, as the Addicks’ winless league runs continues.

Charlton put on a dominant first half display and went in at half-time deservedly in the lead.

Lily Woodham had the first real chance of the afternoon, Ciara Watling was fouled on the edge of the box but the referee gave advantage as the ball fell to Woodham’s feet, but her powerful effort was tipped over.

Charlton took the lead in the eight minute through a superb Charlie Estcourt strike. Ellie Dorey received the ball and squared to to Estcourt at the edge of the box who hit a lovely effort into the top corner.

Shortly afterwards Blackburn began to pressure the Addicks, but to no avail. Rovers won two corners within two minutes of Estcourt’s goal, but the Addicks defended well to clear any danger.

Charlton linked up brilliantly in the first half, in the 16th minute Grace Coombs sent a perfect diagonal ball over the top of the Blackburn defence into the path of Estcourt, but Stenson did well to keep out the strike at her near post.

Estcourt almost got her second of the match in the 19th minute with a copy of her first goal, this time from 35 yards out, but Stenson did brilliantly to tip the ball over.

The Addicks continued to play smoothly throughout the half, Woodham was instrumental on the wing to drive the Addicks forward and spread the Blackburn defence. In the 27th minute Woodham drilled the ball across goal, but Ellie Dorey’s effort was too high.

Ciara Watling set up Charley Clifford at the egde of the box in the 35th minute for a trademark strike, but her effort was over the bar.

Charlton received two yellows before the end of the half, with Lilli Maple and Rachel Newborough both booked for tough challenges.

The visitors ramped up the pressure after the break. Immediately after kick-off Startup had to make an excellent save to tip a low strike away for a corner.

Charlton had a good chance in the 56th minute, Alice Griffiths ran down the right wing and cut the ball back to Clifford whose effort was blocked. The ball dropped to Watling who hit a thunderous volley towards goal, but it hit a Blackburn face on the way.

Charlton tried to maintain control, but the visitors continued to play for an equaliser. In the 70th minute the ball fell to Natasha Flint who turned to shoot, but enough Charlton bodies were back to block the effort.

The visitors got their equaliser in the 73rd minute when a long ball over the top fell to Flint who slammed her effort into the top corner.

Charlton looked to be denied a certain penalty in the 82nd minute when a Lise Junba Eide’s cross was blocked by a Blackburn arm, but the referee waved away the claims and gave a corner.

The sucker punch came in the 87th minute when Blackburn got the winner. Flint got put through on goal, rounded Katie Startup and finished calmly to snatch all three points.
