Cori Daniels has been pleased with the form of the Charlton Women’s team in 2012 and is confident of mounting a challenge in the upcoming cup competitions.
The Addicks kept three clean sheets out of four games in January and centre back Cori collected PHSC plc’s Player of the Month award after last weekend’s 6-2 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.
She has had a big impact on the field since joining in October, winning Player of the Match three times, and spoke about her latest award after the League Cup clash with the Seagulls.
She said: “I think I did alright. We are just grinding out results, doing what we are doing. It’s not just about me, I think as a collective we have done well for the whole month.
“A bit disappointed we let in two today but that had to come at some point and just glad we got it out of the way today so we can go out in the next game hoping we can get a clean sheet.
“The first 10 minutes we played really well, got at them and dominated but then we just went through a silly phase where they dominated us, for whatever reason.”
Having captained Watford over the last couple of years, Cori was named as skipper in the absence of Kim Dixson, who was a second half substitute in the cup win, and it was something she relished.
Daniels said: “I loved it. Obviously Kim is captain, that’s it end of, but I love leading the girls and it was great to get the win to go with it.”
On the upcoming cup games, she added: “Every game is the same for me.
“We approach every game the same – we just want to win. Everyone loves training and playing. It doesn’t matter who we are playing, we go out to do our best.”
