Charlton Athletic Women will be working with Maritime Radio to help raise money to purchase toys for Queen Elizabeth Hospital after the Safari Ward had a number of items stolen from the children’s ward.

The Queen Elizabeth hospital has close connections with Charlton Athletic Women with players joining the men’s first team on their annual Christmas visits over the past few seasons.

The Women will now be helping many groups with a bucket collection taking place at this weekend’s fixture against Leicester City.

“It's so sad that people would take toys from a hospital and after hearing the news we knew we wanted to do something to help” said first team manager Riteesh Mishra. “There’s never a good age to go to hospital but for the children it can be a traumatic time so having toys and games are essential for helping ease some of the stress which hospital trips often entail.

The Addicks take on Leicester City at The Oakwood in Crayford this Saturday, 5:30pm kick-off.
