The Charlton Women’s team continued their impressive pre-season form with a 5-0 victory over South-East Combination side EnfieldTown on Sunday.
The Addicks only friendly defeat thus far has come away to FA WSL side powerhouse Chelsea and striker Gemma Bryan got them off to the perfect start early on. Last season’s top scorer found herself with the ball 20 yards out, took one look up and sent it into the corner of the Enfield net. Midfielder Kim Dixson then took over and bagged herself a first half hat-trick, which started with a long range drive not long after Bryan’s opener. The second was also scored from outside the area, although a tad fortuitously as her left-footed effort looped over the despairing dive from the keeper. Her third came after a penetrating run from winger Kristina Manktelow, who laid the ball off for Dixson to steer past the goalkeeper. Ciara Sherwood then grabbed her second goal of the pre-season campaign with a well-guided header from an Emma Beckett cross. The Addicks next run out will be at Sparrows Lane on Tuesday August 2 against Ebbsfleet while they travel to Milton Keynes the following Sunday to take on MK Dons. |
