An extra-time winner from Emily Symonds on her senior debut saw the Addicks progress to the 3rd round of the Reserve League Cup
In a tough physical cup tie the Addicks were not on top of their game in the first half and conceded a sloppy early goal.
After the break Charlton rolled their sleeves up, battled well and were rewarded with an equaliser five minutes from time when Sam Rowland fired home after a mix-up between the Watford defence and keeper under pressure from Abigail Igbavboa. Extra-time saw the Addicks pile on the pressure and a fantastic run from Ellie Bailes saw the midfielder pull the ball back into the path of substitute Emily Symonds who stroked the ball home from 10 yards. Team: Smith, Duffy, Day, Yennaris, Patel (Sheppard 35), Chandler (Symonds 85), Bailes, Sellar, Keogh (Rowland 55), Igbavboa, Ejupi |
