Reserve Team
The Charlton Athletic women's reserve team competes in the National Premier Reserve League South.
The team provides a link between the U16s centre of excellence teams and the U19s academy to the Charlton women's first team. As well as playing an important role in player development, the reserve team also plays an important role in the rehabilitation of first-team players making their bid to return from injury to full fitness.
Fixtures take place on Sundays, and teams who also take part in this league include Arsenal, Bristol City, Portsmouth, Brighton, Fulham, Watford, Chelsea and Millwall.
In addition, the Addicks reserves also enter the Kent County Cup and the Reserve League Cup.
The first team and reserves are viewed as a squad and until team selection takes place in the build-up before a game, players will not know if they will turn out for the first or reserve team on a Sunday. This ensures that there is no distinction between the quality of resources enjoyed by players who represent both teams.
Players representing the team can be drawn from either the first, U19s or in exceptional cases the U16 squad - and players find that during a season they may represent at least two of the sides on a regular basis.
In season 2005/06, under the guidance of joint managers Graham Webb and former player Joanne Broadhurst, the reserve team reached the Reserve League Cup final for the first time in the club's history and reached the Kent Cup final for the sixth consecutive year.
